August is a great month to get outside! School is about to start and you may be wanting to find a way to stay active while returning to a more “normal” schedule. You may not have time to do a full workout but I bet you have time to go for a walk!
The Dissent Athletics Ruck Club will be hosting a few rucks in August.
Southwest Nature Preserve on August 20th at 8am
Address: 5201 Bowman Springs Rd, Arlington, TX 76017
This is a great hike for beginners to hiking or rucking. The trail is well laid out and has very little elevation. Dogs are welcome as long as they are on a leash. And a plus it is right next to Dissent Athletics!
Clearfork Trailhead on August 24th at 8pm
Address: 4801 Edwards Ranch Rd, Fort Worth, TX 76109
Clearfork is a completely paved trail. Dogs are welcome as long as they are on a leash. We will be heading out for our first evening hike/ruck, so if you are looking to get out in some cooler weather then this ruck/walk is for you! This is also a great spot in Fort Worth to bring your kids along.
What to bring
There are a few important things to bring with you on our rucks/walks.
Water – Even though these events are early in the morning and late in the evening you will still be sweating in this Texas heat!
Closed toed shoes – While the path is paved, there will likely be some rocks and dirt so in order to keep your feet safe we recommend tennis shoes.
Backpack – This is 100% optional! We have some members who would like to make their walk a little more intense by adding a weight vest or ruck.
Readiness to meet new people – At all of our events there is likely to be someone you don’t know! Be sure to say hey to the new person and get to know them
Join our Dissent Ruck Club Facebook group so you don’t miss out on any of our upcoming events!
