We are proud to announce Michelle Ornelas as our Member spotlight for November! Michelle has been a member at Dissent for the past year and a half. Any time she walks into the gym she has a smile on her face and is happy to be there. You can usually find her in the open gym area crushing workouts with her pup Gracie. Thank you Michelle for always being a positive light in our community. Read below to learn more about Michelle.
What made you want to begin your fitness journey at Dissent Athletics?
At the time B and I were in transition from our old CF gym and garage gym. But basically we needed a place with flexible hours to fit our funky work schedules.
Tell us a little about your family!
I’m the oldest of 3 sisters and we all grew up in the DFW area. I’m super lucky to have all my immediate family in the DFW area so I can see them whenever I want. B and I are also engaged so maybe one day in the future we will start our own little family.
What do you do for work?
I’m a pk-4 special education teacher. With an emphasis and special place in my heart for the Autistic community. Prior to joining AISD I worked for Cook children’s and exclusively worked with the Autistic population and I absolutely loved it 🙂
What do you do in your free time?
In my spare time I do CF and lots of doggy walking- working out and being outside keeps me balanced. Oh and I love to eat and try new food places!
Do you have any current goals in the gym?Anything you’ve already achieved or didn’t think was possible in the beginning?
I really want to build my upper body/strict strength. Seeing all the strict HSPU, pull ups, and cool gymnastic stuff is really inspiring- so I’m hoping one day I’ll be able to do some of it.
